Start early with a pickup from your Marrakech riad or hotel .
Cross the High Atlas Mountains via Tizi-n-Tichka Pass and stop at Ait Benhaddou , a UNESCO World Heritage Site famous for its appearance in films like Game of Thrones and Gladiator .
Continue through the Draa Valley , passing by thousands of date palms, until reaching Agdz , where you'll spend the night in a traditional kasbah-style hotel .
Begin the day with a drive through the spectacular Draa Valley , stopping in Tamegroute to visit an ancient Koranic library and watch artisans create green pottery using traditional methods.
Arrive in M’Hamid El Ghizlane , the last major village before the desert, and begin your 60 km (37 miles) off-road adventure to Erg Chigaga .
